Iro/Hush Hush

Iro is one of the five Destined Maidens and the first one to be introduced. She is the second character met overall, appearing directly after her brother, Eli Kawase. Iro is shown to have a somewhat turbulent relationship with her father, Saji Kawase, the chief of police in Subrosa. Though initially not interested in romance due to her last relationship ending poorly, she warms up to the idea after realizing her love for the player.
Personality
[edit | edit source]Iro is shown to be a cheery and motivated young woman who has occasional bouts of recklessness as a thrill chaser. Through her interactions with the player, she reveals that her mother, Rain Kawase, died when she was a child after attempting to surf in a tropical storm, and that these moments are her following in her mother's footsteps.
She is a caring friend and is not afraid to voice her appreciation for those around her and motivate them. She also enjoys playful jabs at those she considers a friend, often playfully insulting various characters in the story. She can also be competitive at times, such as while playing beach volleyball or running with the player.
Relationships
[edit | edit source]Iro has a very close relationship with her brother, Eli, and supported him when he came out to his family, despite their father not reacting to the news well. Additionally, Eli encourages the player to go out with her and offers advice because he wants to see her happy.
Conversely, Iro has a strained relationship with her father. When she was a child, her father was involved in a major police operation to break up a major crime organization. Because of this, the family often received death threats both on the streets and via mail. Due to this, her mother became depressed and started to drink and act recklessly. She began to try free climbing, cliff diving, and eventually surfing during a tropical storm. During this storm, Iro went into the water to try to get her mom out of the storm. Iro failed, watching her mother die in front of her. Iro believed that her mother's recklessness that led to her death was her father's fault and resented for it. However, it is revealed during the final date with Iro that her mother made it out of the water but went back in with a life ring to save Iro. Iro realizes that it wasn't her father's fault, and deeply regrets how she treated him. After this, she begins to talk to her father more and their relationship improves.
Iro was once romantically involved with Cali in the past, even moving in with her. The relationship did not last long after that, however. Cali states the reason to be because that she herself was a difficult person to live with, and they broke up amicably. The two remained close friends after.
Iro had a relationship that ended almost a year prior to the events of the game. Her father caught them cheating on her, which resulted in a rough break up that prevented Iro from seeking a romantic partner until she met the player.
Appearance
[edit | edit source]Iro has a slim, fit build as a result of her constant exercise. She has medium length hair that she dyes rainbow, matching with her brother. Her normal outfit consists of a black, strapless, sports bra with a blue zip-up sweater on top, a pair of black compression shorts, purple running shoes on with cyan laces and a small white wing on the ankle, black sweatbands on her wrists, and a lightning bolt pin on her chest. During her introduction and during the third date, she wears a rainbow pattern string bikini. On the fourth date, she wears a lacy purple evening dress.

[edit | edit source]- The player sees Iro winning a race with someone downtown. Her opponent turns out to be a sore loser and races off.

Deaths
[edit | edit source]As with all Destined Maidens, their death will lead to a Game Over. There are three possible deaths in the game for Iro.
- Her chibi death happens if you fail to dissuade her from attempting to ride a motocross track without the proper safety gear or miss any date of hers after the first one, causing her to die after crashing her bike.
- A second chibi death can happen if you ignore her date invitations. She goes out to surf after a shark warning had been put out, and is killed in a shark attack.
- Her canon death occurs if you fail to mention the life ring she was clinging onto as a child or tell her to stay calm after she realizes the truth of her mother's death if you do not have at least Level 50 Buff and Motivation or Luck. Distraught, she runs away on her motorcycle. The player follows and finds her impaled on a branch after crashing her motorcycle. The player comforts her as she dies from blood loss and in her final moments, she confesses that she was going to surf during the storm in an indirect suicide attempt. She tells the player she's going to see her mom, and that she loved them. She then asks the player to promise her that they'll tell Eli that she loved him too. She then apologizes before closing her eyes for the final time.
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Her character was heavily inspired by Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony. On her July 3rd date, if you pick "You guys have similar taste in hairstyles." after asking about Eli, she will respond with "Hahaha! Yeah. We've got a thing with rainbows, friendship and ponies. Shared interests, you could say."
- She is half Japanese and half American.
- Her name means "color" in Japanese.
