Quill/Hush Hush

Quill Purnell is one of the five Destined Maidens in Hush Hush. She appears on the porch of the player's house in the rain, and asks the player to let them sleep inside. She believes that she is a cat, and often acts like one, even ordering dozens of cans of tuna for her to eat using the player's card. Reflecting her strange behavior, she enjoys physical affection from the player, such as scratches behind the ear and petting her on the head.
Personality

Quill Purnell is an offbeat and endearing catgirl whose serene demeanour belies her peculiar habits and eccentricities. Dotty and utterly unselfconscious, she makes frequent cat-themed jokes and doesn’t quite seem to understand how things work in the “human” world. She’s quiet overall, with a childlike sense of wonder - and a deeply-rooted sense of fear. She’s seen things she doesn’t understand, or doesn’t want to understand. All she wants is to feel safe, secure, and loved.[1]
Quill is very physically affectionate and enjoys cuddling the player and sleeping at the foot of their bed. She is scared easily by strangers, hiding every time someone comes to visit the house. She is also afraid of thunder and loud noises. During the fourth date, she reveals to the player that this is because she was close to the previous chosen one before the player, who was shot and killed by Dorian, and the sound of thunder reminds her of the gunshot. Her fear of strangers is because she is afraid that they'll kill her next, as she was a witness. As they grow closer, she says she feels much calmer around the player. She is also shown to be gullible and ignorant of many aspects of normal life, taking the player's jokes or sarcasm at face value. However, she is also somewhat self aware that she is not fully a cat. During her ending, she tells the player that she can easily lie to the airline staff that she isn't a cat in order to be let on the plane. Additionally, when the player takes her ears off and puts them on, she tells the player that its their turn to be a kitty.

- Options require Lvl 15 TechSavvy or Lvl 21 Lucky.
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- On her final date, it is revealed that Quill is the owner of the house that player is staying in and that she's lived there since she was little.
- She is the only Destined whose canon death cannot occur during or after her final date.
- In the 18+ DLCs of both Crush Crush and Hush Hush, it is confirmed that her tail is a butt plug.
- Quill is the only known Destined girl:
- That neither Lotus nor Iro interacts with throughout the course of the game.
- Whose dates all take place at the same location.
- That the player can date at their house.
- Quill is also the only one of the player's Destined that was known to be a Destined of a previous person chosen by the goddesses.
- The event that caused her to become Destined in the first place is unknown, as the event that caused her to become one of the player's Destined was witnessing the death of the previous chosen one.
Secrets

Deaths
[edit | edit source]As with all Destined girls, their death will lead to a Game Over. There are three possible deaths in the game for Quill.
- Her first chibi death (9 Lives Down Ending) happens if the player either misses her date on July 13th or cancels the order she made using the player's banking account on July 15th. She starves to death outside the house next to an unopened can on the morning of the 18th if either is true.
- Her second chibi death (What Goes Up Ending) happens if the player rejects her requests for a date on July 18th and July 21st. She is found hanging from a telephone pole having been electrocuted while climbing.
- Her canon death (Drowning Death/Cats Hate Water Ending) happens if the player chooses to scare her during the thunderstorm instead of calming her down. She runs out of the house and the player loses sight of her in the storm. If the player chooses to go after Quill, after an hour, they find her body mostly submerged in a canal running through the nearby park. When the player goes to pull her out, they find her foot is caught on something and her body is being held under the water. The player finds that something is attached to her foot (revealed to be a cinder block by Detective Fumi if the player chooses to stay home and wait rather than chase Quill), and it is implied that she was murdered by the people she was hiding from.
