"I am sorry. But your kind only understands one language."
- Dorian's last words to the player before killing them. (determinant)

Dorian Reed is the main antagonist of Hush Hush.

He is the older brother of Eleanor Reed, one of the five Destined Maidens. Despite his formal and friendly exterior, in reality, he is the cruel and manipulative crime boss of the Subrosa Drug Cartel who is responsible for many crimes that occurred throughout the town, most notably the deaths of the nine Chosen Ones chosen by Thelima and QPernikiss prior to the player. He was also chosen by the goddesses far before the events of the story, but quickly spiraled into malevolence.

He bears a striking resemblance to both Stirling and Fabian from Blush Blush- the former of whom he shares his voice actor with- but they are not related in any way.

Interactions

[edit | edit source]

Interaction 1

[edit | edit source]

The player first encounters Dorian when visiting the Reed manor before Elle's first date on the afternoon of July 4th or 6th, as per Elle's family values. He appears to be cordial and reserved in this encounter, and, suspicious of the player, asks them about his intentions with Elle. If the player manages to earn his trust and impress him, he will call down Elle, and the date will begin.

Interaction 2

[edit | edit source]

Dorian is encountered again on the afternoon of July 11, prior to Elle's second date. After a cordial conversation with the player, he will offer the player $5,000 to treat Elle, though his motive for this is unknown. The player can choose to accept the offer or cordially turn it down. Regardless of the option, Elle will appear soon after, and Dorian will leave the two alone.

Peanut DLC Interaction 1

[edit | edit source]

If the player chooses to drive up to the Reed Manor on July 15, they will find Peanut trimming Dorian's hedges. Dorian will appear while the player and Peanut are chatting. Surprisingly, contrary to his usual behavior, when Peanut corrects him about the way his hedges should be cut, he does not lose his temper towards her as he usually does towards Elle, and is instead grateful. Upon leaving, Peanut will admit this to the player, indirectly indicating her awkwardness at Dorian's attraction towards her.

Peanut DLC Interaction 2

[edit | edit source]

On the 16th of July, the player will be invited to a masquerade party to take the place of a guest unable to come. If the player chooses to go, Dorian will be disguised wearing a serpent mask, while his girlfriend Bella wears a bunny mask. Once again, Dorian will once again express unrequited interest in Peanut, who is one of the servers at the event, upon seeing her.

Interaction 3

[edit | edit source]

Elle invites the player as her plus one to Dorian's birthday party. Upon entering, Dorian will generously greet the player and allow them to hang out with Elle soon after. After their time together at the party, Dorian will call up Elle and give a toast to all the guests. Shortly after, Elle will give Dorian his birthday present (which varies based on whether or not the player interacted with Elle at the mall on the 11th), and then in a fit of humor, pull him into the grotto below. This quickly angers Dorian, who while showing his true colors for the first time, cuts the party short and orders everyone to get out while he pulls Elle aside.

Interaction 4

[edit | edit source]

Appalled by the events during his birthday party a week ago, Dorian will call the player to his manor, and puts the player accountable for Elle's sudden change in behavior and actions during his birthday, believing that Elle has changed for the worse. He tells the player to break up with Elle. Depending on how the player processes the situation, there are three possible outcomes:

  1. The player reveals the cause of Elle's narcolepsy (Requires Elle's fourth secret)or Dorian's true colors to Dorian. He barely restrains his anger upon hearing this and infuriatingly demands the player to get out of his manor, cutting the encounter short.
  2. When told about the consequences of their actions, the player taunts Dorian that he is unable to stop them. Dorian allows the player to leave, but as soon as the player is about to reach the gates, he changes his mind and disposes of them with a shotgun. This earns the player the "Riddled with Bullets" game over.
  3. If the player stays composed while speaking to Dorian throughout the encounter, he will bribe them with $50,000 to end their relationship with Elle. The player can either refuse, take the money, or throw it into the dining hall's fireplace. Regardless of what the player chooses, the event will end without the player getting harmed.

Interaction 5

[edit | edit source]

This encounter occurs during Elle's final date if the player decides to go to Elle's house; if they choose to date online, Dorian will find out about the situation and mortally wound Elle; she will survive if the player calls Fumi about the incident. If the player chooses to date Elle in person, he will still enter, but with motivation from the player, Elle will stand up to Dorian and call him out for his abuse over the years, denouncing him as her brother. Dorian will repeatedly attempt to threaten and emotionally manipulate Elle afterwards, but his attempts will fail, resorting instead to smashing her head with a vase in the bathroom.

Dorian will kill Elle if the player does not stop him in time or reveal his final secret (requires the player to tell Elle about QPernikiss and Thelima on her second date). If the player reveals Dorian's secret, he will discover the player's involvement with the goddesses and retreat by sliding down the tree that crashes into Elle's bedroom.

Endgame Interaction

[edit | edit source]

This encounter will only occur on July 31 if the player asks Lilianna after Cassie's final date on the 30th where Dorian is, or if they have knowledge of all 25 of their Destined girls' secrets. She will reveal that he is hiding in the Subrosa Landmark Building, plotting revenge. Upon entering the building, Dorian presumably cuts off the player's Wi-Fi access, preventing them from calling the authorities.

Upon entering the top floor, Dorian will reveal that he is holding his girlfriend Bella and Alice as hostages, and threatens to kill everyone the player has interacted with in Subrosa if they do not kill at least one of them, though the player can convince or manipulate Dorian not to (if neither of these are done, Dorian will order Lotus killed).

If the player manages to enter Dorian's office, he will reveal that he, too, was chosen by QPernikiss and Thelima for the same exact reason the player was, but manipulated his Destined into loving him and killed the person responsible for his quest (as did she before him), taking her place as the new villain and killing the next nine people chosen by the goddesses to save the Destined (it is unknown due to their failures whether Dorian's victims each had their own set of Destined girls or the same ones as the player), and reveals that he caught a glimpse of Quill while killing the previous Destined, and has been hunting her down from that very moment. He will then prepare to kill the player, but if the player is strong, manipulative, or lucky enough, they can survive him, but Dorian will escape via a secret escape route in his office. After defusing an override panel rigged with a bomb (not doing so will result in the "Big Boom" game over), the player will corner Dorian, realize the elevator hatch he is heading towards is empty, and be faced with three options:

  1. The player attempts to warn Dorian about the empty hatch he is about to walk into, confusing him. Dorian walks into the hatch anyway and dies, but as a reward for their heroic actions, the player gets the "Summa Cum Laude" ending if they found all 25 of their Destined girls' secrets and have no dark karma points.
  2. The player takes advantage of the situation and pushes Dorian into the hatch. This will give them 25 points of each Dark Karma stat, taking Dorian's place as Subrosa's drug cartel's leader and the next villain the people chosen by the goddesses face ("Super Big Bad" game over).
  3. The player does nothing, and lets Dorian walk into the empty elevator hatch and fall to his death.

Personality

[edit | edit source]

At first, Dorian appears as a cordial and friendly person. However, he is also a perfectionist. As the player deepens their relationship with Elle, they will slowly find out more and more about his true motives and colors, including that he was responsible for Elle's narcolepsy when she was six years old, and incestuously wants her to himself. Throughout the game, Dorian becomes noticeably more and more delusional towards the player, and he becomes willing not just to kill Elle if she does not accept him, but also them to secure his position of power.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Dorian's voice actor also voices Stirling from Blush Blush, and he also shares his hairstyle and hair color with Fabian from the same game.
    • The former fact is referenced in the Peanut DLC during the masquerade party by Dorian's serpent-styled mask, which is the animal that Stirling is associated with - and transforms into - in the game.
  • Since Hush Hush takes place in an entirely different continuity, it is unknown if Dorian is Elle's older brother in Crush Crush - or if Elle has any siblings or is adopted - and therefore unknown how Elle became narcoleptic in the game.
  • He has knowledge of Mio (but does not know that she is one of the Destined) through Harris, but is surprisingly disgusted with his unhealthy obsession with her.
