Harris
"Mio is mine. You have one chance to back off before **** gets real."
-Harris threatening the player to stay away from Mio on the Evening of the 25th so he can kill her.
Harris is one of two supporting antagonists in Hush Hush alongside Lilianna, serving as the main antagonist in Mio's route. He is Mio's stalker and a member of the criminal gang in Subrosa.
Personality
[edit | edit source]As with all the other members of Subrosa's gang, Harris is shown to be brazen and heartless in everything he does, blatantly threatening anyone who tries to connect with Mio, even resorting to violence if he can't get what he wants. He is also shown to be a sore loser, as seen if the player chooses to sabotage his game at the Arcade on the 7th. He treats Mio no differently than the others he exhibits hostility towards, and only sees her as a source of lustful reprieve, rather than as a true love interest. In addition, his psychopathic and obsessive tendencies abhor not only his enemies and intended victims, but also his allies and subordinates, as indicated by Lilianna seeing him as a psychopath, and Dorian's disgust of his obsession with Mio.
Interactions
[edit | edit source]Interaction 1
[edit | edit source]Harris is first encountered in the Arcade on the mornings of July 5 and 7 where he is seen playing games with Ruri. It also seems that during this first interaction Ruri and Harris are betting against each other who wins the game. The player has the option to pull the plug on Ruri's or Harris's arcade machine, making one of them lose the game and bet, but being also granted the option to pull neither and just leave. If the player decides to sabotage Harris's arcade machine, he will lose the bet and throw an outburst, but will then pay Ruri the bet money; after that, Harris will storm out of the Arcade, and Ruri will drop $1,000 next to you.
Interaction 2
[edit | edit source]The player can also find Harris if they choose to go to the Arcade on July 8 or 9 to talk to Mio, but no interaction will occur between the two.
Livestream
[edit | edit source]If the player logs on to Mio's livestream, Harris will also be participating under the nickname "GG_Is_Everything." He will taunt all of the other participants, including the player, with offensive and threatening messages, and donate large sums of cash to Mio's charity. If the player chooses to not log off after he donates $8,000, he will either lose the auction to the player or be permanently banned from Mio's gaming channel, resulting in the player winning the 1-on-1 with Mio instead.
Interaction 3
[edit | edit source]Harris is yet again encountered in front of Mio's apartment right before the player's 4th date with the latter on the morning of the 25th. He will threaten the player to leave, armed with a knife and still angry at the player over their interaction (and his loss or ban, depending on what the player did the night of the 23rd) during Mio's livestream two days before. The player has 3 options to choose from during each dialogue option; the third one leads to an eventual Game Over if the player does not have at least 4 levels of Violence ready. The choices after choosing the third option for any dialogue option are as follows:
- The player agrees to leave; thus Harris goes to the Arcade with Mio and murders her later that night, resulting in the latter's canon death (Mio's Anima-tragic Death) and the player's eventual offscreen arrest.
- The player further provokes Harris into killing them, therefore resulting in the "Bad Stabby" Game Over.
- (Requires Level 4 Violence) The player turns the tables against Harris and shanks him with his own knife, guiding the knife to his left eye and then his throat. The player then gets rid of Harris' corpse in a parking house, dropping it down a crevice, but not before taking his phone.
Alternatively, Harris will allow the player to go on with their date with Mio (for the sore purpose of breaking up with her) if they have 40 Buff on hand and manage not to provoke him.
Interaction 4
[edit | edit source]This interaction will occur if the player manages to hack into Mio's computer and blackmail Harris into meeting early at the Arcade (requires at least Level 10 Hacking or Level 38 Lucky), provided that the player did not kill Harris in the previous encounter (not doing so will eventually result in Harris killing Mio in the same manner as mentioned above and the player getting framed for the incident). Like last time, Harris will be armed, but with a gun instead of a knife. Prior to this meeting, the player can choose to call Officer Fumi and notify her about the incident, go to the arcade alone, or arm themselves with a steel rod found in their car (Requires at least Level 5 Violence). Once inside the arcade, the player will encounter Harris plotting Mio's demise and grab his attention, either like a cop or hauntingly. Upon quickly noticing you, Harris will pull out his gun, and one of two things can occur:
If the player called Fumi for backup, Fumi will show up right at the moment Harris takes out his gun and successfully disarm him by shooting him three times (once in his eye), severely injuring him in the process, after which she berates the player for their decision to go into the arcade and risk getting themselves killed.
If the player chose to go alone, or arm themselves with the steel rod mentioned previously, they can choose to either knock Harris unconscious (Requires Level 50 Buff), maul him to death (Requires Level 4 Violence plus the steel rod), or try and wrestle/bat the gun away from him (Results in the "Full Metal Ouch" game over).
Regardless of the actions the player takes, the drug cartel will find out about what happened to Harris on July 27 shortly before Mio's final date has been completed.
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- He and Lilliana are the only characters in the game confirmed to be smokers.
- He is the only major villain in the game whose voice actor does not voice a character from Crush Crush or Blush Blush. However, Willcut also voices Sir Vicks in the same game's 18+ DLC (Lilianna shares her voice actor with Claudia and Nova from Crush Crush, while Dorian's voice actor voices Stirling from Blush Blush).
- He is also the only major villain that cannot be encountered during the final confrontation with Dorian, thanks to his downfall on the 27th.
- His obsession with Mio seems to be well known throughout the entire gang, as indicated by Dorian's text message to him during Mio's final date and Lilianna's dialogue to the player on the 30th.
