Elle/Hush Hush

Spoiler Alert! This article or section contains spoilers for the game Hush Hush - Only Your Love Can Save Them. Do not proceed unless you wish to be spoiled.

Elle Reed is one of the Destined Maidens in Hush Hush, and is the daughter of a wealthy family in Subrosa. She suffers from narcolepsy, a condition that causes moments of extreme drowsiness. Because of this, her family are incredibly protective of her and she's lived a very sheltered life. Her brother, Dorian Reed, takes it upon himself to vet every person who comes into her life, something she's rather embarrassed about. Above all, Elle is a sweet girl who holds a genuine curiosity and fascination with the world around her and longs to see and do more than her family allows her to.

Personality

The official artbook describes Elle as:

"Wonderful: sweet, feminine, with an unabashed love for the world. Sadly, she lacks confidence in herself, largely because she’s been under-loved and over-protected for most of her life. Her thoughts are made up of strange, philosophical reveries, which can make her seem air-headed, but really she’s just a thoughtful, curious girl with a dreamy disposition."

Throughout the game, Elle grows more confident through her interactions with the player. Her quiet, conservative appearance actually hides a caring, mischievous, and affectionate side to her underneath.

History

As a child, Elle was struck by Dorian in the head, leading to brain damage and her narcolepsy.

At some point, she moved out of the family estate and into her mother's former home.

Secrets

Elle has five secrets, like the other destined girls.

Hint and Date	Hint
1, Afternoon of July 4 or 6	Elle's first secret is nothing at all. Just share your opinion- she won't mind the gall.
2, Afternoon of July 12*	When seeking Elle's secret, you just need some care. To get you 'a-head', just ask about hair.
3, Evening of July 20	For Elle's third secret, once the champagne is drank, you must help successfully to help pull a prank.
4, Afternoon of July 22	Elle's 4th secret will test if you're decent. When she falls asleep, look for mail that's been recent.
5, Morning of July 29	Elle's final secret is the hardest to see. The goddesses* won't let us cheat... even me.

*The final secret of Elle can only be revealed by telling her about the dream with Q-Pernikiss and Thelima in the second date.

Secret Number	Secret
1	Elle mentioned that her parents and brother are overprotective. She wishes they would 'relax a little.'
2	Elle mentioned that her brother was particularly controlling in her life, and has been that way since they were kids.
3	Elle revealed her family's control over her life has caused her to suffer from depression.
4	You read in a medical file that Elle's narcolepsy was caused by a disturbing childhood injury, inflicted by her brother.
5	Not only is Dorian obsessed with Elle, but he also knows about the goddesses. You stopped him from hurting Elle, but how shall you face him?

Deaths

As with all Destined Maidens, their death will lead to a Game Over. There are four possible deaths in the game for Elle.

• Her chibi death (Elle's Abduction Ending) comes if you ignore her text messages, causing her to be abducted by aliens in her sleep, leaving her fate unknown.
• Another chibi death (Inconceivab-Elle / Don't Mess with Dmitri Ending) happens if you ignore her first date. She dies of embarrassment after being questioned by Detective Fumi when asked if she shares an intimate relationship with the player. The player can also obtain this ending on the morning of July 23th if they respond poorly to Dmitri after he asks the player and Elle the same thing, causing Elle to suffer a fatal heart attack.
• Her first canon death (Bad Tree Ending) happens if you cancel your final date with her on July 29th. A tree falls onto her house and crushes her in her sleep. This is also the only canon death in the game that is not linked in any way to Subrosa’s drug cartel, as well as the only Destined girl's death overall that does not have an associated gallery picture.
• Her second canon death (Better Wear a Seatbelt / Blood Bath Ending) occurs if you decide to do a video call date instead of in-person or fail to prevent Dorian from knocking her unconscious with a vase found in her bathroom. The call drops during the date, and you receive no response from her for several minutes. Eventually, you receive several deranged text messages and a photo of her dead body face town in a bathtub full of blood from her killer. It can also be implied from the title of this ending that the player is killed as well in this ending, as they can choose to try to rush to her house; doing so will cause them to end up crashing into a tree, presumably the same one that kills Elle in the Bad Tree Ending.

Trivia

• Her father is a major politician within the state.
• During one of her dates, you can find medical paperwork that reveals she has secondary narcolepsy, which is narcolepsy caused by a traumatic brain injury.
• If one looks closely at the photo in her bathroom during their final date with Elle, her father is most likely of African American descent.
• Elle has the most different canonical deaths of any known Destined girl, with a total of two.
• During her 3rd date, Elle (due to her dress) mentions that she feels like she's losing feeling in her 'Lovely lady lumps', this is seemingly a reference to the 2005 song My Humps by The Black Eyed Peas.
• Many of the framed pictures inside Elle's house show scenes from Crush Crush.
• The artwork over the fireplace inside Elle's house was drawn by her VA Melody Muze.
