Hush Hush

Hush Hush is a Canadian visual novel - with a twist. Improve skills, charm girls, and learn dangerous secrets… by any means necessary. The game was funded through Kickstarter and released on Steam Early Access on August 22, 2022, with the full release on April 20, 2023.

The game follows the protagonist, who won an all-expense paid vacation to the sleepy summer town of Subrosa. They must learn how to balance their work and relationships with five different girls: Mio, Iro, Cassie, Quill and Elle. Each girl has her own secrets and personality, and the player can choose how to interact with them.

The game has multiple branching paths and endings depending on the player’s choices and actions. At full release, Hush Hush has full voice acting, artbook, soundtrack, and an 18+ DLC. On November 15, 2024, Peanut is added as an optional dateable character DLC, opening up additional scenes and dialogue paths beside the main story.

Gameplay

Taking place in an alternative universe, the protagonist, nicknamed Marshmallow, received a mission from two mysterious goddesses to save five destined girls. As a light novel with a resource management aspect, the protagonist needs to make choices to improve their skills stats while managing their budget and scheduling dates during 31 days at Subrosa.

Each day in Hush Hush follows a gameplay loop. At first, the protagonist can choose to improve their skills or work for money. Later, a day-night cycle is introduced and consists of 4 phases: Morning, Afternoon, Evening, and Night. Each phase shows available events as gold or purple icons on Subrosa's map. Gold events will advance the time of day, while purple ones are optional scenarios that the protagonist can partake in without progressing to the next phase. These events can even be triggered or missable should the protagonist interact with their phone.

As the protagonist makes choices within events, some choices can lead to different routes or bad endings. The protagonist may not be able to choose another option if they lack necessary skills or money. It's recommended to make a save for each day because the player cannot meet enough skills or budget requirements, putting themselves in a bad-ending loop.

Additionally, Sir Vicks can be encountered in either the Nintendo Switch version or with the NSFW DLC on Steam, in order to unlock a side quest to find hidden images for the gallery. The player can obtain each image by clicking on the white camera icon during their dates with the Destined.

The game features several cameo characters from Crush Crush and Blush Blush:

• Background citizens of Subrosa like Fumi, Kelby, Nimh, Ruri.
• Characters being mentioned by NPCs include Bearverly, Renée, Wendy.
• Deuteragonists such as Dmitri, Lotus, William.
• Optional datable characters like Alpha, Bonnibel, Eli.
• Optional full route DLC character Peanut.
• Two goddesses Q-Pernikiss and Thelima.

Content warnings

Hush Hush contains some some dark themes as well as non-explicit sexual content. It contains content that is not for all ages, such as partial nudity, sexual themes, and strong language. All characters involved are over the age of 18.

There is a criminal gang who sell and abuse alcohol and drugs. There are also depictions of characters' deaths, mental health issues, and violence.
